Bollywood superstar King Khan Shah Rukh Khan has received an honorary doctorate at the sixth convocation of Maulana Azad National Urdu University on Monday. He was honored with the doctorate for promoting the Urdu language and culture through his films. Clad in a graduation gown and sporting sunglasses, SRK received the honorary doctorate amid a thunderous applause by the students.
President Pranab Mukherjee and MANUU Chancellor Zafar Sareshwala conferred Shah Rukh Khan with the degree at the sixth convocation of the varsity to Urdu language and culture. Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan, Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana Mohammad Mahmood Ali, MANU Vice-Chancellor and many other dignitaries graced the event.
After receiving the honor, SRK expressed his gratitude and recollected his connection with the city. He said “Very happy. My parents would have been proud if they were alive to see this day. Hyderabad is the birth place of my mother and I have a spiritual connection with this city.”
“I think it is a very big responsibility in the field of education and in the field of Urdu and languages. Through my work, whatever little I can do, I promise, I will make sure that I take it to the best of my capabilities,” he added.
On the work front, SRK next film ‘Raees’ with Rahul Dholakia will be releasing on 25th Jan 2017.
