After Ghazi, a film about a missing submarine, Rana Daggubati is now gearing up for a Hindi film, Vijli – Mistery of the Phantom Ship. This upcoming film is inspired by the steamship SS Vaitarna — also known as ‘Vijli’ — that went missing on November 8, 1888, off the coast of Saurashtra in a cyclonic storm. It was going from Mandvi to Mumbai and there were more than 700 people on board when the ship went missing.
The film, which will be directed by Dhwanil Mehta, is based on the story Scripted by Yogesh Joshi. The actor will be playing the role of a scientist, who investigates the reason behind the disappearance. The ship was finally assumed to be wrecked in the storm and no bodies were found post the same.
From what we hear, Rana Daggubati has already given a nod to the film after listening to the script since he is quite impressed with the same. He has reportedly even met the makers in London for a discussion. It is being said that most of the dialogues will be in English.
The period drama will also have a release in Telugu and Tamil. The makers are currently on a recce for suitable locations. The film is expected to roll by mid-2018, informs a source close to the development.
Apart from taking on diverse roles on the big screen across industries, the actor has also recently forayed into the digital space with Social, India’s first bilingual web-series. For more latest Film news and Celebs updates Follow: CelebsCinema.com
